Last week we passed on the news that Bloc Party drummer Matt Tong was hospitalized with a collapsed lung in Atlanta, leading to the cancellation of four tour dates. Now, the rest of the band's American tour with Panic! At The Disco has been cancelled, the band's publicist has announced. That's 18 shows over the next month. From the press release:
While Matt is on the road to recovery, doctors have advised that he not travel or play again for another few weeks in order to give his lung time to properly heal.
Frontman Kele Okereke says, "We would like to apologize to all of our fans here who won't be able to see us on this tour. We were looking forward to playing in a number of American cities that we've never been to before, however, Matt's health is our number one priority right now."
So far, there's no word on a string of UK dates scheduled for early 2007, so let's hope the injury won't keep the band down for too long.
