Blur is having a hard time making up its mind as to whether it’s broken up or not—and that could be a good thing for fans. Though it was previously rumored that the band’s Hyde Park show around this summer’s Olympics would be its last, Blur has been confirmed to headline next July’s Rock Werchter festival in Belgium. The band also posted a statement on its Facebook page saying that it hopes “to travel in 2013 to play to more of our lovely fans who we haven’t seen in a while.” Though it’s not sure where those shows will be yet, American fans should still have hope.
Blur is currently protesting the sale of its label, Parlophone, after Universal Music Group was forced to sell off part of EMI’s assets after purchasing it. While it’s not clear what will happen with Parlophone, Blur and other acts on the label are concerned that potential new owners could run the label in a way they wouldn’t be happy with. Blur drummer Dave Rowntree told The Independent that this is a concern because “if the staff at the label are unhappy with the new arrangements, they are free to leave, but the artists are not.” Other acts on Parlophone include Coldplay, Kylie Minogue, The Chemical Brothers, and Bat For Lashes.
