Bob Hope and The Muppets bring us Hope For The Holidays in this exclusive clip
Like they probably do for many of you—at least those of you who still have the capacity for warmth in your blackened, Grinch-like hearts—the holidays always make us nostalgic here at The A.V. Club. Add the comforting felt presence of the Muppets, and that feeling only multiplies. So there are a lot of warm fuzzies (not to mention a Fozzie) in this exclusive clip, featuring the Muppets gang singing “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” with the king of midcentury TV comedy, Bob Hope.
The clip comes courtesy of the nostalgia specialists at Time Life, who recently released the variety special Bob Hope: Hope For The Holidays on DVD. Based on the 1993 special Bob Hope’s Bag Full of Christmas Memories, Hope For The Holidays collects Christmas-themed sketches spanning more than 40 years and featuring Hope performing alongside musicians like Dolly Parton and Bing Crosby and comedians like Jack Benny, Red Foxx, Red Skelton, and many others not named Red. It’s the ghost of comedy Christmas past, and the similarly nostalgia-minded can make it part of their Christmas future here.
