Bob Mould announces new album
Although he’s currently on the road behind the 25th anniversary of his landmark album Workbook, Bob Mould is cutting the nostalgia short this year: He’s releasing a new album, his second for Merge Records, this summer. Called Beauty & Ruin, it’s described as a 36-minute “compact epic” in the press materials. So fans can probably expect more of the late-career resurgence that made 2012’s Silver Age such an enjoyable listen.
Mould is backed, again, by bassist Jason Narducy and drummer Jon Wurster, who are also appearing with Mould at SXSW year—including The A.V. Club’s excellent party on Friday, which you should attend if you’re in Austin, obviously. Before he heads to Texas, Mould will appear on The Late Show With David Letterman tomorrow night.
Merge will release Beauty & Ruin on June 3.
