It looks like Bob Odenkirk has found another prestigious AMC project to hitch his wagon to: Deadline is reporting that he’s set to star in a miniseries adaptation of iconic New York Times columnist David Carr’s memoir The Night Of The Gun. The book details the struggles that Carr—who died last year—had with drug and alcohol addiction along with his journey to “becoming one of the best and most respected media columnists in the country,”as Deadline puts it. Also, if Odenkirk’s involvement isn’t exciting enough, the adaptation is being written by Shawn Ryan, who created The Shield and worked on Terriers.
In a statement released by Odenkirk, he referred to The Night Of The Gun as “a story of survival filled with pain, crack, journalistic righteousness, abandoned cars, crooks, lies, and then there’s the two little girls who saved his life,” adding that it’s “overstuffed with humanity.” Odenkirk also says that Ryan “is the man to explore this real anti-hero story,” and he hopes they “do justice to David’s intellect and his scrappy nature.”
