Discovering Bob Saget’s true nature was a rite of passage for kids in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. For those who knew Saget exclusively as the dad on Full House and the dad-like host of America’s Funniest Home Videos, the revelation that he regularly used dirty words and drug references in his nightclub act was about as uncomfortable as barging in on your dad in the bathroom.
Of course, Saget’s later career has traded heavily on that discomfort, including a stand-up special called That Ain’t Right and a book called Dirty Daddy. Still, the shtick never seems to grow old, and Saget’s still flogging his good-dad-gone-bad persona in a new segment from Paul F. Tompkins’ web series for Made Man, Speakeasy. After their interview, Tompkins gives Saget a tablet pre-loaded with Internet videos, the 21st-century equivalent of the clips he narrated for eight seasons on America’s Funniest Home Videos. With AFV’s corporate censors nowhere to be found, Saget lets loose, with predictably, absurdly scatological results.
