Bobby Cannavale will be the new guy to piss off Steve Buscemi on Boardwalk Empire

Even though thousands of Internet commenters have declared it “over now” in the wake of its controversial second season finale, HBO’s Boardwalk Empire continues to defy their edicts and be a show. And to that end, it’s determined to pick up the pieces following [SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T YET SEEN THE SECOND SEASON OR THE SHOW AT ALL, IN WHICH CASE WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?] the exit of Michael Pitt’s Jimmy Darmody and find a new rival to upset Steve Buscemi’s Nucky Thompson, because several of them are dead now. According to Deadline, that man will be Bobby Cannavale, a veteran of HBO series like Six Feet Under, Oz, and Sex And The City who’s also familiar for his roles in Third Watch, Law And Order, Cold Case, and Will And Grace, and more recently shows like Louie, Nurse Jackie, Blue Bloods, and that remake of Cupid no one watched. Cannavale will join the cast as the fictional Gyp Rosetti, described as “a charming but ruthless gangster who challenges Nucky”—which is pretty much the description of every other character on Boardwalk Empire, but okay. Look for Cannavale’s character to play a major role in the events of third season, endear himself to fans, and then maybe die.
