Soul singer Bobby Womack has been very active musically of late, collaborating with Gorillaz and prepping a new solo album, The Bravest Man In The Universe, set for release June 12. But it turns out that Womack is also battling colon cancer, according to friend and fellow musician Bootsy Collins, who reported the news yesterday on his Facebook page. Womack apparently is in the first stage of the disease, and was recently hospitalized for pneumonia. Collins added that Womack is "very upbeat about his future." [via Rolling Stone]
