Bond 25 cast, plot synopsis revealed as Cary Fukunaga begins production in Jamaica
The rumors are true: Bohemian Rhapsody’s Rami Malek will play the villain opposite Daniel Craig in the 25th installment of the James Bond franchise, which will be helmed by True Detective and Maniac visionary Cary Fukunaga. The news was announced this morning outside the Goldeneye villa that once served as the home of Bond author Ian Flemming in Jamaica.
The island country will also serve as a setting for the film, which will find our hero on vacation, tipsily watching the waves crash as the sun warms his glistening pecs, until trouble finds him.

Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.
Shaking (not stirring) things up alongside Malek will be Flash’s Dali Benssalah, Game Night‘s Billy Magnussen, Blade Runner 2049‘s Ana de Armas, Captain Marvel‘s Lashana Lynch, and Quicksand‘s David Dencik. Old-timers Ralph Fiennes, Naomi Harris, Lea Seydeoux, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear, and Jeffrey Wright will return to their roles.
Malek, who was filming in New York, shared another weird video in which he sputters about “making sure Mr. Bond does not have an easy ride of it in this, his 25th outing.”
Production is officially underway in Jamaica, though filming will also take the cast and crew to London, Italy, and Norway. It’s slated for domestic release on April 8, 2020, though international audiences will get it on April 3.
