Bond 25 production delayed due to legendary klutz Daniel Craig
Just a few weeks after Bond 25 began production, Daniel Craig has again betrayed his too-cool character by taking a tumble, making this boo-boo the latest in a franchise’s worth of busted knees, knocked-out teeth, and sliced-off fingertips. The supposed ankle injury has forced director Cary Fukunaga to suspend production. Rami Malek, somehow forgetting this is all make-believe, is presumably cackling behind tented fingers.
This comes via The Sun, who report that Craig’s been flown to the U.S. for X-rays. “He was sprinting during filming when he slipped and fell quite awkwardly,” says their unnamed source. “He was in quite a lot of pain and was complaining about his ankle.” As such, filming at London’s Pinewood Studios, which was scheduled to begin later this week, has been canceled.
The film’s troubled road to production, which saw original director Danny Boyle bail due to script disputes, has already pushed the film from its initial release date of October 2019. If it’s still on track to make its April 8, 2020 premiere is yet to be seen.
Bond 25, which recently saw Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge step in to punch up the script, is said to find our cocktail-sipping hero squaring off against “a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology” while in pursuit of a missing scientist. Newcomers Dali Benssalah, Ana de Armas, Billy Magnussen, and Lashana Lynch join franchise veterans Ralph Fiennes, Naomi Harris, Lea Seydeoux, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear, and Jeffrey Wright.
