Bonnaroo announces lineup, Pearl Jam, LCD Soundsystem to headline

A week after reports of its upcoming lineup started to leak onto the internet, the Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival—or “Roo,” as it’s known to the short on time and light on dignity—has announced its 2016 lineup. The festival will open on June 9, with a headlining lineup that’s leaning pretty heavy on the merits of experience: the opening acts at this year’s fest will be Pearl Jam, the recently reunited LCD Soundsytem, and Dead & Company, the new joint effort from members of The Grateful Dead and John Mayer.

News of the official lineup was broken on tonight’s episode of Conan, a big treat for anyone who’s ever wanted to hear a massive, ginger-haired comedy genius wrap his mouth around band names like Flosstradamus or The Lennon Claypool Delirium. Other major players making their way to Tennessee—including one or two artists that haven’t been around for more than 20 years—this year include festival mainstays Chvrches, Father John Misty, and Tame Impala; you can see the entire lineup in the festival graphic below.

As per usual, Bonnaroo will also indulge in its comedic side; Judd Apatow will be on hand with “his friends,” who we’re just going to assume are comics, and not, like, Guns N’ Roses. (Although we’d kind of dig Slash as the surprisingly delightful, LeBron James-esque cameo in the director and megaproducer’s next big film.) Other acts of a possibly comedic nature include “The Goddamn Comedy Jam,”—almost certainly comedy—and “The Bluegrass Situation Summerjam Featuring Ed Helms And Friends,”—which probably isn’t, given how sincere the Helms-headlining web site actually looks.
