Borat frat boys file an anonymous lawsuit
Remember those drunken idiot frat boys from Borat!: Cultural Learnings of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan who made a bunch of racist and misogynistic statements while obviously being under the influence of alcohol? Two of them are suing 20th Century Fox and One America Productions because they were allegedly promised that the film would not be shown in the U.S. and their identities wouldn't be revealed. The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior Court and posted online by TMZ.com actually begins with the sentence: "Sasha (sic) Baron Cohen is a prankster." Under the names "John Doe 1" and "John Doe 2," the plaintiffs go on to claim they were first taken to a bar to "loosen up," asked to sign movie releases after heavy drinking, and then taken to the motor home where they were filmed. The plaintiffs say they suffered "humiliation, mental anguish, and emotional and physical distress, loss of reputation, goodwill and standing in the community…" because the movie was indeed released in the U.S. Of course, if the film hadn't been released here, extolling the virtues of slavery would be no big deal.
