Bored Warner Bros. execs rearrange their schedule for The Lego Movie 2

Having already watched all the good cartoons that aren’t for babies, and then finished their afternoon snack, executives at Warner Bros. have followed the examples of bored children everywhere and idly wandered over to rearrange their Legos for a while. Deadline is reporting that the studio has pushed The Lego Movie 2 back nine months on its upcoming movie schedule, from May 2018 to February 8, 2019. Directed by Rob Schrab from a script by original Lego Movie masterminds Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the sequel will now come out almost exactly five years after its predecessor first hit theaters. (Another Lego movie, Lego Batman, will arrive next year.)

But brightly colored plastic bricks aren’t the only things getting moved around by the sticky, jelly-covered fingers of the studio’s schedulers: Warner Bros. is also pushing back Owen Wilson and Ed Helms’ Bastards—now debuting January 27, 2017—and Geostorm (October 20, 2017). (This is actually the second time Geostorm has been shuffled around, suggesting that the studio might not have the utmost confidence in a movie where Gerard Butler fights the weather.)

The studio is also moving one movie up, bumping the Ben Affleck-directed Live By Night forward to a January 13, 2017 release, before wandering off to go play with its iPad for a while.
