Boy Meets World’s Will Friedle to voice Star-Lord in animated Guardians series

After teasing the world with a clip, progress rolls on with the animated Guardians Of The Galaxy show. The Hollywood Reporter announces that Will Friedle will voice Star-Lord, the sarcastic rogue with a Walkman of gold. Friedle is probably best known as his role as the older brother in Boy Meets World (and the uncle in Girl Meets World). But he has extensive background with voice acting, most significantly lending his pipes to the lead characters of Batman Beyond and the Thundercats reboot. Friedle will be joined by Kevin Michael Richardson as Groot and Trevor Devall as Rocket, the raccoon that fires big guns while wearing people clothes. The show is set to debut sometime later this year on Disney XD as part of a new Marvel Universe block. No word on which ’70s pop hits will be revitalized by inclusion in the new animated world, but here’s to hoping for KISS’s “New York Groove.”
