Boyle gets attacked by cocaine-fueled rats in exclusive Brooklyn Nine-Nine clip

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is back from hiatus on Tuesday, April 11, and the precinct has a rat problem. That’s just one of the many issues facing the cops of the Nine-Nine in the midseason premiere. They are being audited, and Amy Santiago’s ex-boyfriend Teddy (Kyle Bornheimer) is in charge of writing the report. But the rodents get especially vicious once consuming some particularly potent cocaine—bad news for Boyle, who is trapped in the ceiling dressed as a cat. You can see how that situation unfolds in the exclusive clip we are debuting at The A.V. Club.

Showrunner Dan Goor tells The A.V. Club why the writers introduced the audit and thus the fear of shutdown. “We wanted to shake things up and we wanted to see how the squad reacted to a real stress and to the real threat that their family was going to be broken up,” he said. “It’s a thing we’ve been talking about doing for a while, and I think when we thought about Kyle Bornheimer coming back as Teddy that key unlocked this arc that we really wanted to do.”

Brooklyn Nine-Nine returns Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern. We’ll have more from Goor after the episode airs, including details on the fate of Chelsea Peretti’s Gina, who we last saw getting hit by a bus.
