Brad Meltzer tops two bestseller lists at once

Writer Brad Meltzer has become the first person to top both the New York Times' Bestseller List–with his new novel The Book Of Fate and the Diamond Comic Distributors Top 100 Sales Chart with the first issue of his run on Justice League Of America.

How'd that happen? While some might credit Meltzer's healthy run of bestselling novels and the acclaimed comics miniseries Identity Crisis as raising his profile with readers of diverse interests and robust cross-promotional between the Warners-owned DC Comics and Book Of Fate publisher Warner Books, it's best not to rule out cheesy gimmicks either. From the press release:

The Book of Fate's logo was featured prominently on the No. 12 car for Fitz-Bradshaw Racing in the NASCAR Busch Series at the Richmond, Va. race held September 8 at the Dover International Speedway. The idea came to Meltzer because a pivotal scene in the book's opening chapter features a presidential assassination at a racecar event.
