Bradley Cooper cooks aggressively in the trailer for Burnt

Blame it on Bourdain. Somewhere along the line, being a chef became the third-manliest profession out there, coming in just behind lumberjack and maybe construction worker. (Male strippers are too concerned with grooming.) Bradley Cooper carries on this bad-boy tradition in the trailer for Burnt, where he plays a chef whose love of haute cuisine drives him not only to flip tables, break plates, and violate his employees’ personal space, but engage in some rather nasty tangles with “sniffing, sorting, and injecting” and the foodie powers that be, which have a problem with Cooper’s rogue approach to béchamel or whatever. Even his description of the end product sounds like a metaphor for sexual prowess: “I don’t want my restaurant to be a place where you come and eat,” Cooper says. “I want people to sit at that table and be sick with longing.”

Expect someone to describe a plate of bacon as “punk rock” when Burnt hits theaters on October 23.
