Bradley Cooper pledges to close the Hollywood wage gap, play a talking dog

Striking a solid blow for fair treatment in Hollywood, and also for animals that can talk, actor Bradley Cooper has pledged to work toward defeating the gap between salaries for male and female stars that was recently publicized by his frequent co-star Jennifer Lawrence, and also to play a talking dog.

Talking to Reuters, Cooper called Lawrence’s recent statement “fantastic,” and said that he intends to work with his future female co-stars to ensure that they negotiate to receive equal compensation, calling it, “really horrible” and “almost embarrassing” to learn he was paid far more than his American Hustle co-star Amy Adams for their work on the film. Cooper will have a good chance to put his new pledge into practice soon, as he’s currently negotiating to star as the narrator in A Dog’s Purpose, where he’ll voice the inner monologue of a dog named Bear.

“Usually you don’t talk about the financial stuff, you have people,” Cooper told reporters. “But you know what? It’s time to start doing that.” Other things it’s time to start doing: getting ready to join George Lopez, Danny DeVito, and Michael J. Fox in the great pantheon of talking dog actors, which Cooper will be doing if he signs on for the adaptation of W. Bruce Cameron’s 2010 novel.

The film will apparently focus on a dog who is continually reincarnated to different human families, which sounds like it’s pretty much a movie about watching a dog die a bunch of times on screen. Sad stuff, although still not as sad as rampant gender inequality.
