Braid signs with Topshelf Records, preps new album for 2014

After releasing two EPs since its reformation in 2010, influential emo band Braid has announced a new record to be released in 2014 by Topshelf Records. It’s been 15 years since Braid released its final full-length Frame & Canvas, an album that saw re-release this past April for Record Store Day, via its longtime label Polyvinyl Records. And proving that the members of Braid have not taken their eyes off the scene they helped define in the '90s, these elder statesmen of emo are aligning themselves with another label that's put out records by some of the genre’s best up-and-comers.

Though the new record is still a ways off, Braid will be playing a handful of shows this fall, including a stop at The Fest 12 and an appearance at Topshelf’s CMJ showcase alongside another emo band that’s come out of retirement, The Jazz June. Information on Braid’s schedule shows—as well as a video of a performance attempted at last year's Fest 11, before the police broke it up—are below.

Oct. 05–Reggie's Rock Club–Chicago, Illinois (Record Breakers 25th Anniversary Bash, with All Eyes West and Break Anchor Suns)

Oct. 19–Brooklyn, New York–St. Vitus (Topshelf Records CMJ Showcase, with The Jazz June, Enemies, Caravels, and Have Mercy).

Nov. 02–Gainesville, Florida–The Fest and The Florida Theatre of Gainesville (with Dillinger Four, Paint It Black, Night Marchers and BoySetsFire)
