Bravo announces scripted series about editors Anna Wintour and Tina Brown
At NBCUniversal’s extensive upfront presentation yesterday, Andy Cohen announced that Bravo ordered a scripted series “event” titled All That Glitters about Vogue editor Anna Wintour and former Vanity Fair and New Yorker editor Tina Brown. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will be presented in six parts and is set to be based on the Thomas Maier book Newhouse, which examines the Condé Nast empire of Si Newhouse. Maier also wrote the book from which Masters Of Sex was adapted, and will co-script the new series with Lawrence Konner and Mark Rosenthal.
As of yet, it’s unclear what tone Bravo’s project will be striking, but THR notes that it “will look at the true story of Brown and Wintour’s impressive ascents,” while Cohen said it charts the “actual events behind Anna Wintour’s and Tina Brown’s competitive, fascinating, and at times ruthless rise to the top of the magazine publishing world.” It’s hard to imagine, given the network, that it won’t be a little bit dishy. (Wintour, of course, was the basis for Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada.) But this morning, Politico reported that apparently neither Wintour nor Brown had any idea this was happening. Wintour wouldn’t comment, while Brown wrote in an email that “manufacturing feuds is all the rage!”
