Bravo renews Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce

Bravo has announced that Girlfriends’ Guide To Divorce, the channel’s first foray into original scripted programming, will be getting a second season. The network’s audiences have apparently been charmed by the show and its archaic practice of hiring professional actors to speak words someone else was paid to writea quaint, almost Shakespearean divergence from Bravo’s usual “Find someone making a waiter cry at a high-end restaurant and chuck a camera crew at them” strategy of TV development.

The show, run by Buffy The Vampire Slayer veteran Marti Noxon, stars Lisa Edelstein as a successful self-help author forced to adjust to the public and personal ramifications of a sudden divorce. The first season also featured Janeane Garofalo and Beau Garrett as Edelstein’s divorced friends, although Garofalo departed six episodes into the season and was replaced by Alanna Ubach.
