Breaking Bad’s Anna Gunn to get yelled at for role in ABC sitcom pilot

Emmy winner Anna Gunn—also the two-time recipient of TV’s Shittiest Husband Haver Award, from her time on Gracepoint and Breaking Bad—is moving over into the world of comedy, where the menfolk are hopefully a little less psychotic. Gunn has signed on to the cast of a new pilot for ABC, Chunk & Bean, where she’ll play the mother of one of the title characters, Chunk, whose odd friendship with the other, Bean, brings their two very different families together. Gunn’s character is described as an extremely stern psychologist who’s constantly monitoring her son’s food intake, a role that definitely won’t lead to the tiring spectacle of internet commenters declaiming Gunn as a hateful monster for attempting to exert some measure of control over her life. Again.

The series is being executive produced by Dave Hemingson, whose previous work includes Just Shoot Me, American Dad, and Don’t Trust The B—— In Apartment 23, starring Gunn’s old Breaking Bad co-star Krysten Ritter. Also on the cast: Empire and Jane The Virgin recurring player Adam Rodriguez, who’ll play the father of the other family, and will, presumably, not get the word “bitch” screamed at him every time his character says or does anything in an effort to keep the people he loves safe.
