In news that should come as no surprise to anyone who reads this site, our economy now runs almost exclusively on vampires, according to The Hollywood Reporter, as the consumption of vampire-related entertainment—everything from movies to TV shows to books to soundtracks to clothes to porn—has generated around $7 billion since the release of the first Twilight movie. That’s more than the annual GDP of Nicaragua, as Movieline reports, and only $3 billion less than all movies made in 2009, according to Vulture. It is not, however, enough to buy every woman who fuels this vampire trend the unconditional love she so desires.
