Brett Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment will team with Sentinel Pictures to produce the romantic thriller Paris Call Girl. The film, written by Matthew Ian Cirulnick (The Good Samaritan), tells the story of two lovers—one a young European woman fleeing a high-end call girl ring and the other a young American man fleeing his past—who embark on a dangerous journey through Paris in order to start their lives together. It’s the kind of story that Ratner loves to see, as it’s centered on heterosexuality and probably banging.
The film will be directed by Jake Nava, who has helmed commercials for Guinness and Puma, as well as music videos for the likes of Beyoncé and Kanye West. Nava said, “I love the edgy romance of our seemingly mismatched young couple at the center of the action [and] the way the narrative twists, compelling them both to fight for each other and free themselves form the dangerous underbelly of contemporary Paris.” That of course sounds like most thrillers set in Europe these days, but it is a step up from a Puma commercial, so you can’t blame Nava for being excited.
