Brett Ratner will now teach you about equality for gays
Approaching his new role as envoy for gay tolerance with the same humility and opportunity to put his name on things one has come to expect from Brett Ratner, Brett Ratner has announced that he's currently producing and directing a new video series that Ratner describes as a “crucial campaign to help educate people that we all share the same humanity,” thus reaching the few people who didn’t already learn that from Tower Heist. According to a statement from GLAAD, Ratner’s series will feature “Hollywood celebrities, athletes, musicians and politicians ‘coming out of the closet’ as supporters of equality” as they “share personal stories about why and how they support the LGBT community and call on Americans to do the same,” particularly if they want to produce the Oscars someday. It is, of course, all part of Ratner’s very public amends for his controversial remark last fall—although, with characteristic selflessness, Ratner says only that he hopes that “minds and hearts are opened by what we create.” (Coincidentally, this is also what the cross-stitch pillow on Ratner’s director’s chair says.) And maybe someday, with Ratner’s help, we’ll live in a world in which rehearsal is for everyone.
