The Autopsy Of Jane Doe stars Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch as a father-son team running a morgue that turns into a site of supernatural horror. Troll Hunter director André Øvredal brings us this open casket flick, with the supposedly dead Jane Doe making a lot of noise thanks to the bell affixed to her ankle, like a cat whose ringing scares away potential prey.
Seemingly perfectly preserved on the outside, the morticians find Jane Doe’s insides have been gruesomely maimed and scarred, her body revealing clues as to what really happened to her. The closed-environment trope looks to be even scarier when moved from the typical house/mansion to a ’70s-era morgue.
The Autopsy Of Jane Doe premiered at TIFF, where it received mixed reviews. It opens December 21.
