Brian De Palma hated making Domino, but here's a trailer for it anyway

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Guy Pearce star in Brian De Palma’s upcoming Domino, a new action-thriller that marks the acclaimed filmmaker’s first new film since 2012. He apparently hated making it.

“Domino is not my project, I did not write the script,” De Palma told The Playlist last summer. “I never experienced such a horrible movie set. A large part of our team has not even been paid yet by the Danish producers. The film is finished and ready to go out, but I have no idea what its future will hold, it is currently in the hands of the producers. This was my first experience in Denmark and most likely my last.”

De Palma also lamented that the finished film apparently doesn’t dig into its political themes, which is surprising considering its about a Copenhagen police officer who seeks revenge against the ISIS member who killed his partner. Pearce’s corrupt CIA agent, meanwhile, uses that very same ISIS member as a pawn to trap other ISIS members. As the above trailer demonstrates, the 88-minute film—De Palma’s cut is rumored to run 148 minutes—emphasizes breakneck action and drawn pistols above all else.

Domino hits theaters and VOD services on May 31.
