Brian Eno to release new album later this year

According to a report in Pitchfork, art-rock genius Brian Eno will release a new album later this year—appropriately enough on Warp Records, where so many of his ambient and electronically enhanced scions have ended up. The article fleshes out a few details about Eno’s latest effort via a blog post from guitarist Leo Abrahams (who’s worked with artists like Nick Cave and Paul Simon—as well as the recent Eno/David Byrne album Everything That Happens Will Happen Today—in addition to releasing his own solo albums), who wrote that he and electronic composer Jon Hopkins (who’s worked with Four Tet and Coldplay in addition to his own solo ambient work) had collaborated on a record that represents “the fruits of several years of jams between the three of us. I’ve not heard anything quite like it—it sounds ‘live’ and ‘alien’ at the same time.” You can sign up for more information about the Eno album here; in the meantime, here’s a recent example of a Brian Eno “jam.”
