Brian Michael Bendis' Fire to get film adaptation with Zac Efron
Brian Michael Bendis started his career writing noir and true-crime graphic novels, including Goldfish and Torso, then found fame creating Marvel's "Ultimate" series. His work on Ultimate Spider-Man led him to write for both Spider-Man: The New Animated Series, and a second animated show, also called Ultimate Spider-Man. Meanwhile, his FX series Powers continues to languish in development, but now Bendis is getting a credit without Spider in the name. Deadline reports that one of his early works, Fire, is being adapted by Jesse Wigutow, who's also writing the next Tron movie. Zac Efron is on board to play a college student recruited by the CIA, only to find out the agency considers him expendable. If all goes well, at some point before shooting starts, Efron will be bitten by a radioactive spider that gives him superior speed, strength, and acting ability.
