Brie Larson surprises Captain Marvel moviegoers in New Jersey, picks up a shift at the concession stand
If you’re the star of Marvel’s newest benchmark franchise who has just endured an international parade of promotion and barrage of toxic fan tears, you absolutely have the right to sit some of opening weekend out. Instead, Captain Marvel herself decided to pop by a theater and give the fans an experience to remember.
During a Saturday night showing at AMC Clifton Commons 16 in Clifton, New Jersey, Brie Larson stopped by to surprise a theater full of moviegoers before the film started. Donning a Captain Marvel-themed track suit while sipping from a large cup, Larson strolled before a cheering crowd.
“I just heard that I was on the cups and popcorn and I wanted to see for myself,” Larson casually joked before thanking the audience for their support. A flex by any other name would smell as sweet.
Larson didn’t stop there. After leaving the crowd to enjoy the film, she stepped behind the concessions counter for a spell to serve snacks to some photo-snapping customers.
Since before the promotional tour even started, Captain Marvel has sustained a ridiculous amount of controversy, mostly at the hands of angry Marvel fans who decided to bombard Rotten Tomatoes with poor reviews prior to the film’s release. The controversy hasn’t appeared to hinder its opening weekend success: Captain Marvel topped weekend box offices with a $153 million domestic pull, ranking it among The Dark Knight and Rogue One. While trolls weep, a hero walks unbothered among us, and sometimes she slings popcorn for fun.
