Brie Larson to make her directorial debut in all that downtime she has
This year alone, Brie Larson has won a Best Acting Oscar, filmed Free Fire with Cillian Murphy and Armie Hammer, and wrapped production on Kong: Skull Island and The Glass Castle (co-starring Naomi Watts and Woody Harrelson). Oh, and she was recently cast as good ol’ Captain Marvel. And now Larson is going to use her downtime to make her directorial debut with Unicorn Store, because she’ll sleep when she’s dead, goddamnit (and probably not even then).
Variety reports that Larson will helm the indie film in addition to starring in and producing it, the better to ensure that the film’s central story about a woman with arrested development is told properly. The comedy comes from Rhea Films and screenwriter Samantha McIntyre (Married, Bored To Death). Larson will presumably play the lead, which will involve her moving back in with her onscreen parents and working at a store that “will test her ideas of what it really means to grow up.” That, or Larson will play the proprietor of the Unicorn Store, a storefront we assume will be dedicated to Lisa Frank paraphernalia.
