Britney Spears confirmed to appear on Glee, where she will be treated very nicely

Glee creator Ryan Murphy had a lovely little chat with Ryan Seacrest this morning and confirmed that the upcoming episode featuring the music of Britney Spears as that week’s excuse for not developing its main characters in any meaningful way will also star Spears herself, although it’s yet to be announced who she’ll be playing. What is known is that her music will be used in fantasy sequences, appearing as part of a mass hallucination brought on by anesthesia administered by John Stamos’ dentist character, who will apparently be tending to all of the show’s leads at once—you know, like when you and your high-school buddies used to go and get cleanings together.

However, anyone hoping for a few clever digs at Spears’, shall we say, miscalculations in her personal life will be disappointed: “The Britney episode is so reverential about her, and so kind and it's about her music,” Murphy said, adding, “I think Britney Spears is pop culture, and I think she's been through a lot. And I want to do something that just sort of says, 'You know what, thank you for what you've done. And we’re encouraging you to continue to be as fantastic as you are.' We're handling Britney with kid gloves.” Sounds hilarious. [TV Tattle via Vulture]
