Broad City auctioning off clothes, scripts, strap-ons for charity

Broad City might be ending soon, but its abiding sense of style, strangeness, and sex positivity is destined to live on: The Comedy Central show announced today that it’s teaming up with auction site Screenbid to sell off more than 200 items from the series’ sets, with all the money going straight to charity. Items available in the auction—which’ll update over the next several weeks, timed to run alongside the show’s fifth and final season—will include outfits, scripts, props, and, of course, at least one strap-on dildo.

Unfortunately—because this is how we spend our day—we were unable to directly ascertain whether the strap-on in question is the foam green one that features so prominently in the show’s second season episode “Knockoffs,” because it’s yet to make its way into the auction pool In the email announcing the auction, it’s listed as “Ilana’s Strap-on,” when the one in the episode would more properly be dubbed “Jeremy’s Strap-on,” so who can say? Life is beautiful, and full of uncertainty.

Still, just because we can’t be entirely sure which celebrity dildo will soon be on sale for fans to gleefully acquire, that doesn’t mean you can’t take your mind off of your problems by buying, say, a fake dreadlock from Abbi’s unfashionable past, or a hot dog-sized “superblunt.” Or, hey, a swimcap previously worn by Abbi Jacobson, which is sure to be a real conversation piece, provided you don’t mind your conversations containing the word “Why?,” repeated, and in various inflections.

The auctions will run through March 28, with all revenue donated to Lemontree, a New York-based non-profit devoted to helping disadvantaged families eat quality, nutritious food. Certainly, there are worse causes to drop a hundred bucks on to get your own Broad City title animation still.
