Brooklyn band The Men broke out in 2011 with its second album, Leave Home, a confrontational jab of noisy punk that doubled-down on intensity at the expense of accessibility. For the forthcoming Open Your Heart, which comes out March 6 on Sacred Bones, The Men appear to be moving in a different, more melodic direction. At least that's true of the blasting, anthemic title track, which ought to sound great coming out of car windows in the early spring. The guitars are still loud and grinding, but the fist-pumping quality of the chorus can't be denied. It's like the most compact parts of Fucked Up's David Comes To Life crossed with some classic Replacements/Tom Petty heartland rock. You can hear a stream of the song over at Pitchfork.
