This Friday, a playground in Brooklyn Heights will be renamed in honor of the late Adam "MCA" Yauch. The former Palmetto Playground holds both full and half basketball courts, a community garden, a greenhouse, a small fitness area, open play space, drinking fountains, and a dog run, and is located near where the Beastie Boy grew up. Yauch learned to ride a bike in the park that will now bear his name.
The park’s renaming is the result of a year-long campaign by fans and nearby residents that was originally launched by a post on the Brooklyn Heights Blog.
Yauch died a year ago this Saturday.
