Bruno Mars to headline Super Bowl halftime show, to the delight of moms and pre-teen girls everywhere
Having realized that nothing could top last year’s Beyoncé performance, the Super Bowl is bringing in Bruno Mars to helm this year’s halftime jamboree. The fedora-topped crooner will perform as part of Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Feb. 2, and the game will be televised on Fox.
Lest naysayers question a relative newcomer like Mars’ credentials for headlining such a semi-prestigious event, both the singer and Super Bowl’s press teams would like to remind the public that Mars has sold over 115 million singles worldwide, and that he’s both won a Grammy and been nominated for 13 others. Furthermore, his current record, Unorthodox Jukebox, and his debut, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, have gone platinum 60 times worldwide. And currently, the singer and his band are on a sold-out, 91-city world tour. So there.
