Bryan Fuller drops a few names involved with his Amazing Stories remake
Bryan Fuller will soon turn NBC into his playground again; the Hannibal series creator was tapped nearly two years ago to write and produce an Amazing Stories remake, and now there’s some news about the show’s development. Fuller, who’s been busy promoting American Gods at SXSW, just revealed some of the talent who will help him bring the anthology series to life once more. Crave reports Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, Emily Gordon, and Jane Goldman will all serve as writers for the series.
“We are working on a variety of scripts from a variety of sources, and we’ve got a lot of really great writers involved. So it feels like I’m curating the Amazing Stories magazine,” Fuller tells Crave. Their credentials are impressive: Oswalt’s nerdy aficionado reputation precedes him, obviously, but he’s also previously written for various comic titles, including Justice League Of America. Goldman has co-written several films with Matthew Vaughn, including X-Men: First Class and Kingsman: The Secret Service. And of course, Nanjiani and Gordon are frequent collaborators (and marrieds), whose The Big Sick wowed us at Sundance. Fuller’s put together a formidable writers room to follow in the footsteps of Steven Spielberg’s original, so we’re looking forward to seeing which directors he attracts.
There’s still no word on when these Amazing Stories will unfold, but we’re (pretty) sure NBC won’t go breaking our hearts again and stall production or anything.
