Bryan Singer will helm Fox’s X-Men pilot
Earlier this week, Fox tightened its grasp on the rights to X-Men, finally ordering a pilot for a long-developing series about mutants. Actually, based on what we know about the show so far, it’s more Running On Empty than X-Men: First Class. Matt Nix (Burn Notice) and Bryan Singer’s series will focus on a mutant child born to a couple of married homo sapiens, and the lengths those parents will go to to protect their child. Nix and Singer are executive producing the pilot, which the former will write. And since he seems to know his way around these things, Singer will helm it. According to Variety, the director of four X-Men features (and producer of five) has been tapped to direct, which presumably means he’ll just walk over to a different 20th Century Fox lot to shoot it. Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory will also executive produce the as-yet-untitled series.
