Bryce Dallas Howard set to make directorial debut with Sorta Like A Rock Star
Having already made it cool to wear heels in dinosaur theme park disasters, Bryce Dallas Howard is moving on to a new challenge. According to Variety, Howard is set to make her feature directorial debut with Sorta Like A Rock Star, a movie based on Matthew Quick’s book of the same name. The story is about an “optimistic high school student” named Amber Appleton who “secretly lives in her mom’s school bus during her senior year after an altercation at home.” (Some rock stars live in a bus while on tour, if you didn’t get the title.)
The Variety story notes that Howard has directed a few short films and a music video in the past, with her first short, “When You Find Me,” making it to the short list of Oscar nominations. It wasn’t nominated, but it came relatively close.
