Buffy nerds have something to sing about: The "Once More, With Feeling" cast recording will be released on vinyl
Even if you’ve never seen an episode of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer in your life, you’ve likely heard devoted fans sing the praises of the musical episode, “Once More, With Feeling.” 18 years later, it is still one of the most heralded episodes of the classic series with its own very dedicated following. Come March 20, fans can finally have every gorgeously cringeworthy note in their possession.
For the first time ever, the original cast recording will be released on vinyl. Record label Mondo will distribute the record with new artwork by Paul Mann and fresh liner notes from creator Joss Whedon.
Label Manager Mo Shafeek released a statement:“We’ve been huge fans of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer for decades. Our obsession with the musical episode ‘Once More With Feeling’ inadvertently presented a solution to a long standing problem of how to best entry point for us to celebrate the brilliantly singular, yet expansive series. It took a few years to get it perfect, but we couldn’t be prouder with the artwork that Paul Mann put together—including some truly inspired additional design by Chris Bilheimer and Eric Montes, who came up with the idea of the ‘Slaybill’ lyric booklet.”
The cast recording goes on sale March 20th at 12:00 p.m. CST via Mondo’s online store. There’s likely a lot of enthusiasts waiting for the chance to force their friends into a properly uncomfortable duet to “I’ll Never Tell,” so it’s best to prepare for a little competition as soon as the goods are released.
