Burger King is paying for a couple named Burger and King to get married

Providing undeniable proof that love can exist in the cruel, soulless landscape of corporate America, Burger King has offered to cover expenses for the against-all-odds union of Illinois couple Joel Burger and Ashley King. Burger, 24, and King, 23, are just two crazy kids who found love in a hopeless place (college) but have known each other since kindergarten. Smartly picking up on the fast food-related humor inherent to their relationship, they took to a local Burger King for a photo shoot as soon as Burger proposed to King.

The couple then apparently tried to reach out to Burger King about getting some customized drink koozies with the company logo, but had trouble reaching them. Luckily, because Burger King is the sort of corporate entity that believes in true love, Cupid alerted the fast food giant to this fantastic marketing opportunity and it immediately sounded the alarm.

Said Burger King spokesman Eric Hirschhorn, “When we heard about the happy Burger-King couple, we felt an overwhelming urge to celebrate their upcoming marriage.” So congratulations are due to the eventual Mr. and Mrs. Burger. Just please, make sure you read the fine print on the agreement before cashing any checks. There’s sure to be a stipulation requiring any future children to be named after value menu items like “Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe” and “Spicy Crispy Chicken Jr.”
