Busta Rhymes thanks “President Agent Orange” at the Grammys

Unlike the SAG Awards just a couple of weeks ago, this year’s Grammys ceremony was relatively light on artists taking direct aim at Donald Trump and his policies, with political references that were largely more oblique. But that changed when A Tribe Called Quest took the stage alongside Busta Rhymes and Anderson .Paak. As he took the mic, Busta Rhymes specifically referenced Trump, calling him “President Agent Orange.” As an introduction to the song “We The People,” he said: “I want to thank President Agent Orange for perpetuating all the evil that you’ve been perpetuating throughout the United States. I want to thank President Agent Orange for your unsuccessful attempt at the Muslim ban.” The Hollywood Reporter has video:

At the end of the performance—which also featured a diverse group of people, including Muslim women wearing hijab, on stage with the performers—the audience gave a standing ovation as Q-Tip repeated the word “Resist.”
