Bomb the presses—it’s official: In just 15 days on store shelves, Call Of Duty: Black Ops II: Fighting Fire With Firefighting earned a near-inconceivable $1 billion in retail sales worldwide. The news isn’t totally unexpected, considering that the previous record for the fastest sprint to the cool billion was set by the game’s predecessor, last year’s Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: More, More, War. COD:MW3:MMW did it in 16 days, superfragging the laggy 17 days it took Avatar to make that amount in box-office sales.
Since Activision released Black Ops II on Nov. 13, players have also spent a collective 150 million hours on the game’s online multiplayer mode—including one zealous soldier who kept his guns a-blazin’ for 135 hours straight. Considering that there are only 8,760 hours in a year, this translates to over 17,000 years of total fighting, effectively pwning the Hundred Years’ War.
