Though Cameron Crowe’s movies don’t naturally lend themselves to sequels, the director said that there is one film he’s considered adding another chapter to: 1989’s Say Anything…, his iconic comedy about the powers of Peter Gabriel and impending IRS prosecution when it comes to forging unlikely romance. “It’s the only thing that I’ve written that I would consider doing that with,” Crowe said—which is not the same as saying that he will do it, of course, but for what it’s worth, he adds that he thinks about it occasionally, has discussed it with John Cusack, and even has plans to incorporate a role for the drunk guy Cusack’s Lloyd Dobler is forced to squire home from the post-prom party. Anyway, this not-quite-announcement also serves as a disappointing denial to anyone still holding out for a sequel to Elizabethtown where Kirsten Dunst agrees to marry Orlando Bloom, but only if he can find her through decoding the lyrics in old Tom Petty songs.
