Cameron Esposito opens up about her sexual assault on Twitter

Stand-up comic, columnist, TV producer, and all-around funny person Cameron Esposito has opened up another front in the ongoing conversation about feminism, sexual assault, and the numerous ways President Donald Trump has failed the former, and been accused of committing the latter. Esposito—who, it’s worth noting, periodically writes a column for us, covering topics ranging from a how-to on top-level stand-up to being sexually harassed on the street—shed light on Trump’s actions by revealing a painful part of her own past, opening up about her own history with sexual assault.

Esposito didn’t linger on the details of her assault—even noting, in passing, that it feels “ridiculous” to come out about the topic on Twitter. But she also emphasized the power of the truth, using her experience to highlight numerous incidents in which Trump has been accused, in graphic detail, of forcing himself onto non-consenting women, and refusing to let those attendant feelings of outrage be normalized or allowed to fade.
