Capcom is remaking the remake of Resident Evil
Like the downed zombie you forgot to burn that is now rising with its newly formed crimson head, Capcom is once again reviving the original Resident Evil. More specifically, the publisher is polishing up the 2002 GameCube remake of Resident Evil for an HD release on the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4 in “early 2015.”
Capcom isn’t doing much to the game beyond making it look and sound prettier. “We have been very careful to preserve the atmosphere of the original game and are ensuring that no unnecessary changes will be made,” producer Yoshiaki Hirabyashi said in an announcement video. The only twist announced thus far is a new, optional direct-control mode that will make the characters move like every other video game character instead of some sort of clumsy human-shaped tank.
