Captain America 3 already has a release date
Captain America: The Winter Soldier has only been in U.S. theaters for a weekend, but Marvel has already set aside a date for the star-spangled superhero’s next solo adventure: May 6, 2016. As reported by Coming Soon, the sequel will see the return of The Winter Soldier’s directors, Anthony and Joe Russo, as well as the writers from both of the first two Captain America movies, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. We don’t know much beyond that, and we can’t even safely say what characters will appear, seeing as Chris Evans’ Captain America could ostensibly get killed off in the upcoming Avengers: Age Of Ultron along with all of his super-friends. Then Captain America 3 could be about some hip, new kid who assumes the mantle, possibly played by Justin Bieber.
Superhero movie fans might also recognize May 6, 2016 as the new release date for the still-untitled Batman/Superman movie. Warner Bros. has already pushed that movie back once, so it remains to be seen if either company will swerve in the face of direct competition from its comic-book rival. Either way, you can at least pencil Captain America 3 into Marvel’s insane 14-year release plan for now.
