The MCU’s done a pretty good job of keeping the top-secret projects they’re working on, well, secret, especially when it came to the plots of Infinity War, Captain Marvel, and now Endgame. So tightly bound were the shoots that even the cast didn’t know what was going on half of the time. As it turns out, Brie Larson wasn’t even told what she was filming when it came to the post-credits scene for Captain Marvel.

On Wednesday night’s The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Larson shared the lengths they went to to ensure the actors—we’re looking at you, Ruffalo—wouldn’t be able to spoil anything by virtue of not knowing anything. As she already stated in the official Avengers: Endgame press conference, she filmed Endgame before seeing a script for Captain Marvel yet.

“I flew to Atlanta to start shooting, had no idea what I was doing,” she said. “And I arrived and they gave me a piece of paper that was a full page of dialogue and action but all of it was redacted except for my one line.” She even asked who was on set, but no one could tell her that info either. “It wasn’t until I walked on set that I was like, ‘Oh crap, I’m like in a Marvel movie right now.’”

The funniest part came when filming that post-credits scene, which she performed to an empty room. So, while the fans watched with excitement as Captain Marvel was finally seen on screen with the core Avengers, Brie Larson was just starring at tape marks.

“I didn’t know that was a tag for Captain Marvel,” she said about the scene. “I didn’t know what that was what we were shooting. There was also nobody else there. I was by myself on a green screen…they whip-panned over to me and I was like, ‘But where is he actually? Like is he in the room? What room am I in?’” She deduced that Fury probably was gone gone (as in dead), but didn’t know what the final thing would be or what it meant until the premiere for Captain Marvel. Talk about acting chops.
