Carcetti from The Wire stars in this massively pretentious new Sigur Ros video
The Icelandic fabulists of Sigur Ros commissioned videos for every track on their sleepy new Valtari album, giving the directors they chose total freedom in concocting the visuals. Director Nick Abrahams got Aiden Gillen—a.k.a. Tommy Carcetti from The Wire—to star in his short, and the results are visually gorgeous and kinda giggle-inducingly pretentious. Gillen stars as a guy walking around in a field whose thoughts are delivered via voiceover. He meets a snail (voiced by British folkie Shirley Collins) and then an injured fox. Inner monologues abound. A leaked treatment for the next video in this series features Wendell "Bunk Moreland" Pierce traveling to a magical city in the clouds, where he learns telepathically that there is, in fact, no heaven—but that love does exist. (Okay, I just made that up.) Enjoy?
