Cardi B to serve as Jimmy Fallon's first-ever co-host on The Tonight Show's next week
Cardi B has quickly become one of the new delights of the talk show circuit, coming at late-night with the same enthusiasm and genuine energy that she brought to her breakout hit, “Bodak Yellow.” (Also, sometimes she just makes expressive little sounds instead of actually saying anything, which is pretty fun.) Now—and in anticipation of her first full studio album, the upcoming Invasion Of Privacy—Cardi’s stretching her talk show legs a little more, with EW reporting that the “Bartier Cardi” rapper will become The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’s first official (temporary) co-host, helming the NBC series alongside Fallon next Monday night. (Just five days before making her musical debut on Saturday Night Live, to boot.)
If nothing else, the announcement promises some very weird energy; watching a December interview of the two of them together, Fallon is both clearly impressed and amused by, and a little scared of, the rising superstar’s willingness to say whatever pops into her head. (And also her tendency to loudly trill.) Cardi’s co-host duties will include performing, chatting with Fallon and, most excitingly, popping in to help him interview the episode’s other guests. The episode airs April 9.
